6/14/2023 0 Comments Litter box clean meIt takes a few days, (and a few messes) but I slowly coax Clementine into the Loo by keeping it manual mode. I’m really hoping this works out and Clementine will overcome her unnecessary traumatizing first impression. They suggest keeping the device in manual mode to let cats adjust, but I didn’t realize it would spin the first moment I turn it on. Smarty Pear tells me this in the instructions – kind of. He comes wandering in later (after it has litter), hops in, does his business, and he’s off. This is what I accidentally did right with the male – her brother, Chester. Why am I so dumb? In hindsight, I should have set it up with litter and let her see it and explore prior to her seeing it spin. She’s initially pretty terrified actually. Clementine was curious, but now she does not like it AT ALL. I am so excited about not scooping that I just want to introduce her to it quickly. I plug in the device and keep it the needed distance from the wall. It was the timid one of the two cats – my female kitty, Clementine. I bring one of my cats down to the basement to “help” set it up. A handy guide is included that tells me how to get it set up. The litter box is pre-built, I simply cut some tape and it slides out of the box ready to go. Well kind of surprised anyways – I did some reading in advance, and I knew it was going to be on the large side. When the device shows up at my door, I am a bit surprised at its size. Smarty Pear is confident in their product and sent a Leo’s Loo Too over for my two cats to try out. It may be one of the best out there might I add. It has taken me two years, but I finally had the opportunity to test a self-cleaning litter box. Okay I’m lying – my son does it… but he hates doing it. Here is a Jackson Galaxy page about aggression in cats.I’ve been manually scooping the litter box for about four years now. “My cat is biting me/attacking me/aggressive.” If they are scratching the furniture, put a cat scratcher near where they were scratching. In addition, you want to replace the problem area with something for them – if they want to be up on the counters so they can see what you’re doing, give them a tall cat tree in the same room and treat them when they use it. Keeping the area clear of anything attractive – if they’re on the counters looking for food, make sure the food is cat-proofed and the counters are clean. SSSCAT Deterrent Cat Spray – this is a motion-activated and harmless spray ( ) Strong (but pet-safe) citrus smells/sprays. You can put that on surfaces/furniture/cables– you can wrap these around mats or cardboard if tape will ruin the surface or you need to be able to access the areas sometimes. Generally, the effective way to train cats to stay away from a specific area is to set up passive environmental deterrents. “I want my cat to stay off of the counter/stop scratching furniture/stop chewing cables/etc.” Training your cat to use a harness/leash/use a cat backpack/go for walks: Catexplorer has a wealth of information from blog posts to podcasts to lists/reviews of products and a store for cat backpacks.
